Responsible Business Conduct and the U.S. Government

Join the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and U.S. Government speakers to learn about the USG approach to responsible business conduct.

On September 24, 2014, President Obama announced plans to develop a National Action Plan (NAP) to promote responsible business conduct abroad, consistent with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Expanding U.S. efforts to promote responsible business conduct is intended to cement the brand of U.S. businesses as reliable and accountable partners internationally and promote respect for human rights. The U.S. government will work closely with stakeholders throughout the development of the National Action Plan, including U.S. businesses and civil society. A few months later, following the G7 Summit, the G7 Leaders released a joint statement of commitment to meaningful actions to improve worker rights in international supply chains, encourage multinational enterprises to implement due dilligence procedures regarding their supply chains, and strengthen efforts like the NAP.

Join Melike Yetken, Senior Advisor for Corporate Social Responsibility and U.S. National Contact Point to the OECD for the U.S. Department of State, for a discussion on the NAP, the G7 Leaders Summit document, and her work as the National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines. Following the presentation, Ms. Yetken will take questions.

NOTE: This webinar will not be recorded, so please plan to participate live to receive the update.
