Trade Policy Outlook for 2014

To kick off the United States Fashion Industry Association’s 25th anniversary year, we hosted a webinar on the outlook for trade policy and politics for the next year. This discussion will provide you with knowledge about our advocacy activities in Washington and around the world as well as the tools to get involved on behalf of your company and the broader industry.

USFIA President Julia K. Hughes and USFIA Washington Counsel David Spooner with Squire Sanders covered topics including:

  • The outlook for key trade policy issues, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations, the African Growth & Opportunity Act (AGOA), the Nicaragua TPL, and more.
  • What’s happening on Capitol Hill with these issues as well as Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and the Senate Finance Committee shakeup with the news that Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) is the pick for Ambassador to China.
  • The early outlook for the midterm elections and how the politics might affect trade policy.
  • How U.S. apparel brands, retailers, importers, and service providers can get more involved in trade policy this year.
