The U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement entered into force on May 15, 2012, and since then, both U.S. and Colombian companies have enjoyed duty-free access for a variety of products, including textiles, apparel, and other fashion items. Colombia’s strategic location, flexible quantities, and tailor-made production have positioned the country as an important ally for the USA market. In addition, the Free Trade Agreement between both countries has boosted trade and allowed exports of new and competitive products.
The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and Proexport Colombia, a Sourcing Partner and International Affiliate of USFIA, provided an overview of the opportunities available under the FTA and other updates. Sylvia Reyes, Proexport Colombia's Apparel and Textiles Director for the United States, will review the FTA and Colombia's capacities, categories, and competitive advantages, especially commitment to compliance. She was joined by representatives from CI Jeans and Crystal Hosiery.
