The Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) is an initiative of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and GeSI. CFSI's flagship Conflict-Free Smelter Program offers companies and their suppliers an independent, third-party audit that determines which smelters and refiners can be validated as "conflict-free," in line with current global standards. CFSI also offers a Conflict Minerals Reporting Template, which helps companies disclose and communciate about smelters in their supply chains, and produces white papers and guidance documents on responsible conflict minerals sourcing and reporting on a regular basis.
Over 200 companies and associations from seven different industries participate in the CFSI today, and CFSI regularly collaborates with other complementary programs and initiatives in this area. As more companies work on the issue, CFSI hopes for a future in which businesses can contribute positively to the fostering of peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Michael Rohwer, Program Director for the EICC, discussed how CFSI can help your company with its SEC Conflict Minerals reporting requirements and make informed decisions about conflict minerals in your supply chain.
