GEODIS USA, USFIA’s Customs Broker Partner since 2016, GEODIS delivers timely information and training to global brands and retailers on customs and logistic issues. GEODIS offers customs brokerage and freight forwarding services globally – with a particular expertise in fashion and retail. GEODIS works collaboratively with us to support our mission and activities while helping us amplify the industry’s voice on the critical issues and keep our members informed about the regulatory challenges of today and tomorrow.
As USFIA’s Customs Broker Partner, GEODIS keeps members informed through webinars, Customs Committee meetings, and featured participation at USFIA events and member briefings. The classification workshop with GEODIS and the National Import Specialists at CBP remains an important part of USFIA’s Apparel Importers Trade & Transportation Conference events each November in NYC. We plan to offer more innovative programs during 2024 about U.S. Customs and Border Protection enforcement actions, including 21CCF, new government initiatives, and new classification issues.
As the apparel trade community continually seeks clarity on the chapter note 4 changes impacting heading 6106, GEODIS USA LLC, USFIAs Customs Broker Partner has submitted and received responses on three binding ruling requests, HQ H324935, HQ H325360 and NY N326188. The rulings predominantly deal with the concept of “loose-fitting” one of the new defining characteristics of a blouse falling under heading 6106. While the rulings provide some additional context regarding this concept, the distinction of “not clinging close to the body and/or mannequin” remains quite subjective. GEODIS and USFIA look to schedule additional webinars on this topic and are hoping additional rulings will be requested and issued providing further clarity on other outstanding concerns and questions that are the result of the chapter note change.
