U.S. Customs and Border Protection and its federal government partners have been mandated to implement a new international trade data system: an electronic “single window system” for all cargo crossing U.S. borders. ITDS will increase efficiency and benefit both businesses and the government by reducing costs. Although the new ITDS system will not be fully in place until 2016, there are some important transitional deadlines coming up in late 2015 that will affect importers small and large.
