On March 26th, USFIA joined with our Premier Partner PwC and the Denizli Exporters Association (DENIB), a group of manufacturers of luxury home textiles in Turkey’s Denizli region, to host an executive breakfast roundtable to discuss sourcing and duty-savings opportunities in Turkey.
Nearly two dozen representatives from DENIB’s manufacturers as well as global home and fashion brands and retailers gathered at PwC’s Madison Avenue offices for breakfast and conversation with peers before discussing the opportunities and challenges with doing business in Turkey. Following a welcome by Suleyman Kocasert, President of Denizli Exporters’ Association and Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, attendees learned about the Denizli region and the sourcing opportunities there—namely, gorgeous, luxury towels perfect for fashion-focused home goods retailers as well as luxe hotels and hotel suppliers [DOWNLOAD].
Other presenters including USFIA President Julia K. Hughes, who described the current picture of sourcing from Turkey and the outlook for U.S.-Turkey and EU-Turkey trade [DOWNLOAD] as well as Maytee Pereira, Director in PwC’s International Trade & Customs Practice, who explained how brands and retailers can utilize First Sale to save on duties when exporting towels, or any fashion products, from Turkey [DOWNLOAD].
In May, DENIB will host a buyers’ mission, where select buyers for home retailers or contract businesses, designer labels, or boutique hotels will be invited on an all-expenses-paid trip to Denizli to visit factories as well as tour the ancient cities of Pamukkale and Hierapolis. The mission will take place from May 22-27, 2015. If you’re interested, please contact us.
