From USA-ITA OFF THE CUFF for March 15, 2013

From March 4th through March 8th, USA-ITA President Julia K. Hughes and USA-ITA member companies joined with the TPP Apparel Coalition to participate in the 16th round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations in Singapore.

USA-ITA members have already seen our updates about the important discussions during the negotiations. Some of the most interesting meetings during the round, however, were with the local Singapore representatives. We were also lucky to meet with Ken Glenn, President of APL, who shared with the group his views about the outlook for the container shipping industry. Finally, meeting with the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore offered an opportunity to talk with old friends and meet new entrepreneurs who are actively working in the TPP region.

If you’re interested in the TPP, and particularly submitting requests for the short-supply lists, we encourage you to attend our webinar on Thursday, March 21st, TPP Update for Apparel Importers. USA-ITA President Julia K. Hughes, USA-ITA Washington Counsel David Spooner with Squire Sanders, and company representatives will discuss the latest updates, particularly on the short-supply process.
