From USA-ITA OFF THE CUFF for November 30, 2012
On January 8th, USA-ITA will host a series of seminars focusing on important issues in China.
From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, USA-ITA and Associate Member PwC will host a seminar on retailing in China. Damon Paling, Partner at PwC Shanghai, will cover topics including crossing the Chinese Customs border, CIQ, import models, efficiency, and more. Mr. Paling consults for many retailers and brands in our sector on Customs and trade advocacy, so he will provide excellent insight on the in-country requirements and how to successfully meet the challenges of Chinese Customs and CIQ requirements. If you’re retailing in China—or planning to!—this is an event you cannot afford to miss. Lunch will be provided by PwC. If you can’t make it to New York, we will also webcast the event simultaneously.
From 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, USA-ITA and Associate Member Squire Sanders will host a seminar on brand protection in the U.S. and China, featuring Squire Sanders IP experts from Hong Kong/Shanghai, San Francisco, and New York City. The U.S. and China, of course, present different brand protection issues and require different brand protection strategies. The speakers have years of experience helping companies, including fashion houses, adequately protect their trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets in both the U.S. and Asia. You'll learn how established, as well as new-to-market, brands can proactively protect themselves from trademark counterfeiting. The seminar will be followed by a pre-conference networking reception.
Both events will take place the day prior to the 24th Annual Textile & Apparel Importer Trade & Transportation Conference at Bridgewaters South Street Seaport. We hope to see you at all the events!
