Last month, USFIA and the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) signed a MOU to collaborate, share materials and training opportunities. Founded in 2008 by members of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative, CFSI offers resources for companies from a range of industries addressing conflict minerals issues in their supply chains. The Conflict-Free Smelter Program offers companies and their suppliers an independent, third-party audit that determines which smelters and refiners can be validated as “conflict-free,” in line with current global standards. CFSI also offers the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template, which helps companies disclose and communicate about smelters in their supply chains. On December 14th, CFSI will participate in a webinar with an update on conflict minerals compliance and reporting. For more information about CFSI, visit www.conflictfreesourcing.org
