The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and Proexport Colombia are partnering in 2014 to promote duty-free sourcing opportunities in the Americas.
It should come as no surprise that the United States is the top importer of Colombian apparel, thanks to Colombia’s forward-thinking designs, competitive costs, short delivery times, and strong commitment to sustainable, fair practices—and, of course, the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which went into effect two years ago. After all, the city of Medellin is considered the fashion capital of Latin America and an emerging hub for all aspects of the fashion industry in the Americas.

To highlight the numerous opportunities for the U.S. fashion industry in Colombia, the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) and Proexport Colombia are partnering in 2014 to promote duty-free sourcing opportunities in the Americas. Proexport Colombia, an International Affiliate of USFIA, is the entity in charge of promoting tourism, foreign direct investment, and non-traditional exports in Colombia. In the fashion industry, Proexport Colombia works to leverage Colombia’s expertise and help companies across the supply chain take advantage of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, which provides U.S. companies with 0 percent duty and no quota on all imports from Colombia.
