The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) is excited to announce that we are continuing our partnership with the Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association (IHKIB) as our Sourcing Partner for 2022. IHKIB will help us deliver updates to global brands and retailers about the sourcing outlook in Turkey, as well as opportunities to increase U.S.-Turkey trade.

IHKIB, with more than 10,000 member exporter companies, is the biggest sectorial institution in the apparel industry of Turkey. IHKIB’s main goal is to increase Turkey’s apparel exports and to promote the industry globally. IHKIB works to achieve this goal by providing consultancy service to the members in trade related areas, organizing national participation to international fairs, trade and buyer missions, and conducting educational activities and projects to improve design capacity, digitalization, and sustainability of the industry.

With dedication to fast and flexible supply process, sustainability and corporate social responsibility, proficiency in fashion design and design skill, sustainable production practices, ready to buy collection and quick response to fashion, Turkey is becoming an appealing sourcing destination for brands and retailers. In fact, Turkey saw the fastest growth of U.S. textile and apparel imports in 2021 among our top ten suppliers, with imports from Turkey up by 152%. USFIA members will also remember that IHKIB’s commitment to sustainability and decreasing the carbon footprint of apparel producing companies was the focus on a Just Style article in October 2021.

As USFIA’s sourcing partner since 2020, IHKIB has delivered insights and updates to our members by contributing to our Sourcing Trends & Outlook report, member communications, and participating as speakers at our Annual Conference on topics such as sourcing innovation and opportunities in Turkey, how to increase transparency and traceability throughout supply chains, and how Turkey is increasing sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts, and sourcing diversification to mitigate supply chain risks. Responding to the disruptions caused across the world by the COVID-19 pandemic, IHKIB launched IFCO, the Istanbul Fashion Connection, an online platform that connects Turkey’s high quality and versatile apparel collections to buyers from across the world.
