Sourcing in the Americas Summit to Promote Business in Western Hemisphere

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- WWD reports today that "a coalition of U.S. and international apparel and textile trade associations, brands, and retailers"—including the United States Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel—will host the Sourcing in the Americas Summit at MAGIC in Las Vegas from August 21-24, 2011. This important summit will promote business and investment in Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Andean nations in an effort to combat "increases in raw materials, labor and transportation costs" for the textile and apparel industries, says WWD.

“It is the first time those of us in the industry have seen this level of commitment from the administration and business,” Julia Hughes, president of USA-ITA, told WWD. “We’re sharing ideas and talking about success stories in the region and throughout the supply chain. Our goal here is to take a fresh look.”

USA-ITA encourages all members and others in the textile and apparel communities to participate in the event, which kicks off with “The New Western Hemisphere Supply Chain—Way Beyond the Basics” on August 21. The four-day summit will also include additional sourcing seminars and the opportunity to network with members of the U.S. and international textile and apparel industries.
