WASHINGTON – From August 20-23, 2012, the United States Association of Importers of Textiles & Apparel (USA-ITA) will participate in SOURCING at MAGIC in Las Vegas, specifically in events highlighting sourcing opportunities in the Western Hemisphere.

On Monday, August 20th at 2:00 PM PST, Hughes will moderate a panel titled, “Closer to Home: Sourcing in the Americas,” highlighting duty-free benefits via CAFTA-DR, NAFTA, and the Colombia, Peru, and Chile FTAs. The panelists include Kim Glas, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Textiles & Apparel at the U.S. Department of Commerce; Javier Chamorro, Executive Director of PRONicaragua; and sourcing executives from J.C. Penney and Lanier/Oxford.

On Monday, August 20th at 3:30 PM PST, Hughes will moderate a panel titled, “Made in the USA: Options & Strategies for Sourcing Apparel & Home Furnishings,” with keynote remarks from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Under Secretary of International Trade Francisco Sánchez at the U.S. Department of Commerce. The panelists include executives from Brooks Brothers, Karen Kane, Nanette Lepore, and New Balance.

The seminars will be followed by a cocktail reception with panelists and exhibitors at 5:00 PM PST, sponsored by PRONicaragua and Buhler Quality Yarns.

SOURCING at MAGIC will also highlight other regions, such as Southeast Asia, and will include panel discussions on the ASEAN region, footwear, and trends and strategies for mergers and acquisitions for brands and retailers, among others.
