US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to strengthen its information collection requirements for low-value shipments, which are also known as de minimis shipments.

The aim is for its proposed entry of low-value shipments (ELVS) rule to enhance supply chain visibility and enable CBP to be able to intercept illegal shipments across US ports of entry.  ...

The United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) president Julie Hughes tells Just Style she is pleased the public comment process has started.

She notes: “Customs and Border Protection has released a very detailed proposal. We will take the time to review the proposals and to recommend improvements in the data collection and targeting for low value shipments.

“Fashion brands and retailers support improved supply chain visibility. We look forward to working with CBP and with other industry colleagues to support this initiative.”
