“Quite a few of our member companies are in the [Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety and the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety] and as part of that participation, they made a commitment to keep sourcing in Bangladesh,” said Julia Hughes, president of the U.S. Fashion Industry Association. “But we are continuing to see this slide and a really strong slide in the month of November — a double-digit decrease. I do think that is a reflection of the likelihood that smaller companies may be placing less business in Bangladesh until they see the full implementation of the National Action Plan and some other internal actions related to labor rights and to factory safety.”
