Recently, USFIA joined with other apparel and retail associations to send a letter to new U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and it was picked up by many publications. May 4: USFIA joined Customs Broker Partner GEODIS for Talking Trade at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), a free event to bring together the industry and students to talk about issues affecting the industry. USFIA President Julia K. Hughes spoke on a panel with Cynthia Whittenburg, Deputy Executive Commissioner of the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Office of Trade and other speakers from GEODIS and Baker McKenzie. While the Trump Administration was the main theme of the evening, the speakers also talked about IPR, FTAs, and sustainability among other issues.
